4. Tides, Weather & Itinerary Flexibility

Sundarbans navigation is governed strictly by the natural lunar tides (high water and low water ebb) and river currents.

  • Tide Compliance: Boat cruise departure timings from Godkhali and watchtower visit sequences (Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali, Dobanki) may be rescheduled by the master boat captain to match tidal safety.
  • Adverse Weather & Cyclones: In events of sudden depression, cyclone warnings, heavy river fog, or coastal warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) / Forest Department, safaris may be restricted or halted.
  • Force Majeure: We are not financially liable for unavoidable trip disruptions resulting from natural calamities, river blockages, strikes, or administrative governmental curfews.

5. Wildlife Sightings & Nature Clause

The Royal Bengal Tiger, Estuarine Crocodiles, Irrawaddy Dolphins, and Spotted Deer inhabit an open, unfenced mangrove wilderness spanning thousands of square kilometers.

  • Animal sightings are purely subject to natural chance, wildlife movement, and luck. We do not and cannot guarantee Royal Bengal Tiger sightings.
  • Our experienced guides and boat drivers use their tracking skills and tidal understanding to maximize your wildlife viewing opportunities safely.

6. Forest Guidelines & Code of Conduct

The Sundarban Tiger Reserve is a strictly protected Biosphere Reserve. Every traveler must adhere to the Indian Wildlife Protection Act (1972):

  • Zero Plastic Littering: Throwing single-use plastic bottles, packets, or food containers into the river or forest is strictly prohibited and attracts heavy statutory fines.
  • No Disembarking: Under no circumstances may a traveler step off the boat onto riverbanks or mudflats outside authorized Forest Department watchtower netting.
  • Sound Pollution: Playing loud music, shouting, honking, or carrying external loudspeakers on board is strictly banned in core silence zones.
  • Drone Flights: Operating consumer drones without prior written clearance from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) is strictly illegal and subject to equipment seizure.

7. Safety, Life Jackets & Liability

Guest security is our top priority. All tourist boats engaged by Sundarban Eco Explore are equipped with life buoys, life jackets, and primary first-aid equipment.

  • Guests must wear life jackets when moving on open boat decks or entering boarding gangways when instructed by crew members.

  • Travelers are responsible for securing their personal luggage, cell phones, and high-end camera equipment during river cruises.
